Enhancing Manufacturing Efficiency with Robotic Automation

The challenge
The client's welding operation depended on a shrinking pool of skilled welders. Output varied with shift and operator, rework was a persistent cost, and the ergonomic load on the team was significant.
- Output varying by operator and by shift
- Persistent rework from inconsistent weld quality
- Difficulty recruiting and retaining skilled welders
- Ergonomic risk in heavy part manipulation
Our approach
SAAR designed a multi-cell robotic MIG welding solution with purpose-built fixtures and checking gauges. Reach, access and cycle time were validated in simulation before build, and the cells were proven at factory acceptance on the client's own parts.
Operators were retrained as cell technicians — a deliberate decision by the client to retain skilled people rather than displace them.
